Well, with all manure that's hit the fan in Pittsburgh the last few days, I believe it's obvious the draft board has changed slightly. Instead of trying to guess what the boys will do next week, the following picks contain what I would do- much like my popular braclet, WWJD.
Rd 1, Pick 18 (18) Maurkice Pouncey, C, Florida- It's not exciting to draft a lineman in the 1st round, but it needs to be done. This kid can start at right guard move to center in a year or two. Previous pick, Brandon Graham, OLB.
Rd 2, Pick 20 (52) Dexter McCluster, RB/WR/KR, Ole Miss- I know it's crazy not to grab a top corner, but I still have faith in the two guys we drafted last year, Lewis and Burnett. McCluster can return, and give Mendenhall a breather every now and then. Previous pick, Cam Thomas, NT.
Rd 3, Pick 18 (82) Jamar Chaney,ILB, Mississippi State- We need some young legs at the backer position. Bring Foote back was huge, but Chaney should be able to learn from the best and replace Farrior in 2 years. Previous pick, Chris Cook, CB.
Rd 4, Pick 18 (116) Blair White, WR, Michigan State- Holmes. Jets. Sweed? Previous pick, Ed Wang, OT.
Rd 5, Pick 20 (151) Derek Hardman, OT, Eastern Kentucky- The first of many picks in the 5th round. Should provide competition along the front line. Previous pick, Anthony Dixon, RB.
Rd 5, Pick 24 (155) Anthony Dixon, RB, Mississippi State- I think we'll still pick him up. It's a crowded backfield now. Previous pick belonged to Jets.
Rd 5, Pick 33 (164) Mike Tepper, OT, California- More beef, better pick it up Tony Hills. Previous pick, Myron Lewis, FS.
Rd 5, Pick 35 (166) Ekom Udofia, NT, Stanford- Great value here, he can replace Hampton in 2 years. Previous pick, Shawn Lauvao, OG.
Rd 6, Pick 19 (188) Donovan Warren, FS, Michigan- Good size and should be able to help when Troy beats himself again. Previous pick, Ted Larsen, C.
Rd 7, Pick 18 (225) Ben Burney, CB, Colorado- Like I said, I have faith in the guys we drafted last year, but hey, why not. Kid has good strength and his stock is on the up. Previous pick, John Conner, FB.
Rd 7, Pick 35 (242) Adrian Tracy, OLB, William & Mary- Tomlin looking out for talented alums. We could also use some depth, Silverback is only a few years younger than me. Previous pick, Micah Johnson, ILB.
